History

Sheffield held its first Pride event (South Yorkshire Pride) in 2008, a free community festival for the LGBT+ community, attracting an attendance of 4,500 people. The event grew each year with police figures giving an attendance of 10-12,000 people in 2012. From 2013-15 a pride event was held in the city by Sheffield Pride Ltd. Following the announcement by Sheffield Pride Ltd that they would be closing the company and no longer running any further events, a community consultation was held to gain people's response. From the consultation a group interested in continuing a pride event in the city came together. Elections were held for the key committee roles and Pride Sheffield was formed.

This year we are entering our second year as a new organisation and committee, Pride Sheffield 2016 was a huge success and we are grateful for everyone who supported Pride Sheffield and helped us deliver a community focused and free to attend event within our great city.
