Out Aloud is Sheffield's LGBT Choir. It was formed in 2006 and enables lesbians, gay men, bisexual and transgendered people in Sheffield to enjoy singing as a community. There are no auditions and you don't need to be an experienced singer or read music. Currently the choir has over 50 members made up of both beginners and experienced singers. All songs are taught by ear (you can learn from written music if you wish) and we sing everything from contemporary pop to madrigals. The only requirements for joining are that you identify as LGBT and are 16 or over. You're welcome to come to one or two sessions for free and see if you would like to join. If you do decide to join there is a fee each term (on a sliding scale). The Choir is led by Val Regan, an experienced community music worker and choir director who is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network. The Choir meets every Wednesday evening during the school term 7.15pm – 9.30pm.
